I have met William Susman music more than a decade ago. I had the honor to do many world premiere of his music, and for so long I wanted to record his Quiet Rhythms !
The Quiet Rhythms are amazing piano piece. The whole serie (4 books, 88 pieces) is so ambitious that it can really be seen as the "post minimalist" well tempered clavier !
The music goes from "relatively" simple form to more and more complexe (and difficult to perform) from piece 1 to 88.
They all follow the same process : introduction & its own contrapuntal development (a mixture of the Motetus Isorythmic form & latino american rythms!)
The music is filled with lush hypnotic harmonies and gently cascading rhythms blossoms across 22 tracks. An ambient mixture of the sublime, deep meditation and serenity carries you to a place of transcendence.
